Witty, surreal, and ambiguous, painter Evelina Paukštytė’s exhibition Death in Lilacs will delight visitors until June 30.
Despite technical challenges, the 2 × 2.5 m work made it to Anykščiai. Our sincere thanks to “Anykščių ratas” and its director Vygantas Šližys for their help!
Yesterday at the Angel Museum, we immersed ourselves in E. Paukštytė’s inner world, rich with the color violet, literature, books, pop legends, impermanence, lilac blossoms, a sense of looming death, and everyday situations.
The exhibition repeats not only the color violet, but also the motif of tennis courts. As Evelina says: “Each of us has our own court, our inner game, which we play on different sides and in different colors. Art is a way to get to know ourselves and the world.”
Death and Lilacs hides far more symbols, whose meanings we will reveal to those who visit the Angel Museum (Vilniaus St. 11, Anykščiai)! Come and explore, Monday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
