CARD MAKING (IN ANTICIPATION OF CHRISTMAS)

Surprise your loved ones with a warm and cosy handmade card. At the Angel Museum, you can use a variety of printmaking techniques to create unique personal or commemorative cards. ICON LIGHT

Do you know what an icon is? Would you like to have your own travel mascot? When you join the workshop at the Angel Museum-Sacred Art Center, you will have a chance to make your own personal travel icon. A cosy, wooden icon, warmed by your hands, with the image of the saint or angel of your choice, will accompany and protect you from adversity, reflecting your dreams and hopes. CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP (THE SECRET OF THE BLUE ANGEL)

Production of a postcard-picture using a photographic imaging technique – cyanotype. During the workshop, we will create original compositions – blue angels – by sensitising the paper with a special solution and watch how (in daylight or with an ultraviolet light) they turn into blue photographic prints. THE STORY OF ONE BELL

Discover the history of Anykščiai and Lithuania’s bells! The stories of the preservation of the bells will help to understand the civic consciousness of the local population. The participants will not be passive observers: they will work and communicate with each other, solve tasks, learn and find out how and when St. the bell on display in the tower of St Matthew the Apostle’s Church? DISCOVER THE MUSEUM AT PLAY

The aim of the activity is to turn passive museum visitors-observers into active participants-researchers. During the workshop participants learn about the museum’s exhibits and new information about the artists, solve crosswords, take photographs, look for differences, go through a maze, present their results to their friends, and have discussions. The methodology helps you to push the boundaries of what you can do, to try out new roles. Active activities stimulate curiosity and creativity, and change the way people look at the museum. The difficulty of the exercises is chosen according to age groups, and the activity is also suitable for mixed age groups. Pre-registration is required. LANTERNS

Have you ever wondered how colourful stained glass windows are created? During the educational session “Lanterns”, we will make a one-off piece based on the principles of stained glass creation. We will become stained glass artists and use a variety of colourful media to paint the three-dimensional glass. Making a lantern is a unique opportunity to take time for concentration and meditation. 3D PENCIL IMPROVISATIONS

During the workshop, we invite you to use a 3D pencil to make key chains, original candle holders or toys to decorate your home. The programme is suitable for all age groups, up to 12 participants. Pre-registration is required. The educational session takes place at the Museum of Angels-Sacred Art Center.

EBRU

Ebru (water painting) is a pleasant, relaxing and meditative activity. The fun part is that no artistic skills are required for this activity. You can create a unique drawing in just a few minutes and take it home with you! We welcome everyone who wants to have fun with friends, colleagues or family. The maximum number of participants per session is 20, aged 7 and over. Duration of the session: approx. 1.5 hours Price is 5 Eur per person. LINOCUT

School students are briefly introduced to the history of fine printmaking and the linen carvings in the museum. Each participant creates a line drawing, which they carve on a linoleum plate and make graphic prints from it. The educational activity encourages creativity, self-expression, diligence and responsibility. Pre-registration is required. THE MAGIC OF COLOURED INK

During the class we will see the collection of artworks in the Anykščiai Sacred Art Center and the Angel Museum. We learn how to recognise different techniques and discuss ink-based printmaking. Once the artwork has been chosen to suit each individual, an artistic interpretation is made using the ink-casting technique. School students develop their ability to focus their attention on one work of art at a time, to notice its smallest details and to understand its impact on their feelings. After the artistic interpretation of the work, together with the curator, the differences in expression with the original work are analysed, and an attempt is made to understand the reasons for the differences. The technique of inlay moulding encourages relaxation, develops the expression of emotions through the juxtaposition of colours and stains, contrasts and nuances. Pre-registration is required. SYMBOLS IN THE COATS OF ARMS OF LITHUANIA

During the educational session, the principles of the coat of arms creation, the main colours and their meanings are presented, and the most commonly used symbols in Lithuanian coats of arms and their meanings are discussed. The coats of arms of Anykščiai, Vilnius, Kaunas and other cities are examined, as well as their historical development. School students are involved in a “game” that invites them to explore the historical contexts that have influenced the development of city coats of arms. Creative activity – designing a school crest. School students develop their citizenship by trying to find out which values are most important to them, which ones they want to use in their school coat of arms, and how to convey them in the language of symbols. ANGELS AND SAINTS

After familiarising yourself with the symbols of Christian iconography, you will analyse how the depiction of angels and saints in the works of modern folk artists has changed compared to the works of the old worshippers. After studying a selected Lithuanian folk sculpture, you will create an artistic interpretation – a three-dimensional composition. The creative task will develop aesthetic perception and imagination. VIRTUAL REALITY FILMS

Experience art in 360°: virtual reality films based on the work of some of the most famous Lithuanian expatriate painters – the exotic Jonas Rimša and the colourful Vytautas Kasiulis. VR films allow us to go beyond the artists’ work. The paintings in the film are chosen to represent different stages of the artists’ lives and journeys. Using virtual reality technology, 360-degree space and animated action, the viewer is taken on a journey through the world as seen through the eyes of the creators. 8-10 min. film screening price: adults 5 Eur; school students, students, pensioners, people with disabilities 3 Eur.
