Spend Museum Night—Saturday, May 17—at the Angelų muziejus (Angel Museum)!
At 8:00 PM, the Angel Museum–Center of Sacred Art will host a Solo Piano Improvisation Evening by Tomas Kutavičius.
Composer and improvisational pianist Tomas Kutavičius is a rare artistic spirit—one who avoids the spotlight, seeks no public acclaim, and performs without the need to compete. Guided solely by his inner muse, he devotes himself wholeheartedly to expressing what the moment reveals through music.
His improvisations are deeply emotional, rich with shared human experiences and vividly shifting moods. As you listen, you may hear the pulse of nature itself—the beauty of its phenomena, its raw power, the calm of early morning or twilight. You might sense a lake’s surface shimmering or still, or the cry of distant birds.
Despite the emotional depth—often expressed with great intensity—each of Tomas’s improvisations is finely structured, a self-contained microcosm that moves independently yet harmoniously within a greater musical universe. This balance is palpable, offering listeners a therapeutic and deeply engaging experience.
Join Tomas Kutavičius on an unexplored path—discover it with him, surrendering to the flow of spontaneously born musical themes and the silences between them.
This special event is introduced by musicologist Dr. Eglė Šeduikytė-Korienė.
Presented by: The Utena Regional Percussion and Jazz Festival Utena Jazz.
Admission to both the concert and museum is free during the event.
