IMstudija is a private piano school founded by teacher Irena Meldaikienė, which has been operating in Anykščiai for the past five years.
Part of IMstudija also runs at the Eglutė kindergarten in Anykščiai, under the name Piano STARt (“The Start of Piano Stars”). For the past three years, the teacher has been working with young children in the kindergarten using a completely unique method she developed herself: she plays piano with the children every day without involving their parents in the learning process. That means the children do not practice at home—they learn and play entirely within the kindergarten setting. This approach eases the burden on parents, giving them more free time at home, while the teacher takes full responsibility for the lessons and simply invites families to the children’s performances.
This concert, held at the Angel Museum – Center of Sacred Art (Vilniaus St. 11) on May 27 at 5:30 PM, is for those who wish to see these young musicians perform. The children are taught using the Suzuki method. Older, school-age students will also perform, having been taught through a variety of other methods developed by the teacher over many years of work at the Anykščiai Music School, where she served as a senior methodologist.
The concert will feature students from Anykščiai and Vilnius, as the teacher also teaches remotely.
Students of IMstudija will perform pieces from Book 1 of the Suzuki Method, as well as lyrical and virtuosic works by composers such as Vytautas Jurgutis, Dennis Alexander, Martha Mier, Daniel Hellbach, and Michael Aaron.
